2011 San Francisco Writers Conference

Coming Soon! San Francisco Writers University

2006 Highlights

The third annual San Francisco Writers Conference was another sold-out smash hit, with 300 attendees from around the world and more than 100 presenters, agents and editors joining the fun. This year we added Friday afternoon sessions, our first ever writing contest, Speed Dating with Editors, and a print on demand anthology of writing from conference attendees and presenters.

Our new home at the luxurious InterContinental Mark Hopkins Hotel proved inspirational for many, and networking took on an added dimension with wi-fi Internet access in hot spots throughout the hotel.

Jenny Crusie at 2006 SFWCGayle Lynds and D.P. Lyle gave us thrills and chills Friday afternoon, and Sheldon Siegel told a standing room only crowd how bestsellers are made. Jenny Crusie and Bob Mayer entertained everyone with tales of their collaboration escapades. Anthony Rapp sang the praises of his RENT memoir; Jan Wahl and a panel of stars talked books into movies; and Lalita Tademy held the audience in thrall with the story of her journey to Oprah fame.

James Dalessandro showed clips from the 1906 centennial celebration of San Francisco's Big One, and we ended on a high note with a screening of The Prizewinner of Defiance Ohio, Terry Ryan's award-winning memoir turned movie.
